Registration is open: Track Guys Final Roundup at Texas World Speedway

In case you haven’t heard the news, Texas World Speedway just outside of College Station, TX will be closing at the end of May. While we will be sad to see it go, we’re going to send it out with a THREE-DAY Track Guys event, March 27, 28 & 29, 2015.
TG_TWS_15Friday is limited to Track Guys Instructors as well as Intermediate- and Advanced-level drivers and we’ll be running clockwise. Saturday and Sunday we’ll be running TWS’s 2.9 mile road course in the more traditional counter-clockwise direction and will be the “full-school” event open to drivers of all experience levels.

The Mustang Club of America has designated this as one of their “National” driving events and we are very proud to be working with the largest Mustang club on the planet. As part of their support of the event, the MCA is providing a FREE LUNCH to all driving school participants on Saturday, so be sure to stop by their display, thank them and check out all the Mustang Club of America has to offer.

TWS_TG_track_mapTrack Guys Test Drive
Not sure if this “performance driving thing” is for you? For just $50 our Track Guys Test Drive is just that: a smaller “sample” of our time-proven performance driving education experience. Test Drive participants attend the Saturday AM driver’s meeting, two classroom sessions and then drive the noon-time parade laps before getting their own “Test Drive” session on the track, at-speed with one of our in-car instructors riding along to help you “get your speed on”.

If you want to run the Test Drive Program, you can sign up for it on the same registration site as the full-school drivers.

Sponsors
We are very blessed and thankful for our sponsors for this event. Some of these companies have been with us for years, while others are just now coming on board. Please be sure to visit their websites, check out their products and services and let them know how much you appreciate their support.

Track Guys to Provide Performance Driver Training at 4th Annual Mustang Roundup & Boss Reunion at Motorsports Park Hasting (Nebraska), Sept 18-21, 2014

2014_MPH_Mustang_RoundupTrack Guys is proud to be providing the classroom and in-car instruction for the 2015 event. This one-of-a-kind Mustang event at Motorsports Park Hastings, Hastings, NE. In 2013, we had nearly 100 Mustangs and Fords on the track and at the two different car shows.

With FOUR DAYS of Mustang and Ford fun, this event has something for everyone:
* Track Guys driving school (Mandatory for first-time participants)
* Friday PM car show at the Hastings Museum of Natural and Cultural History
* Participant reception
* 2015 Mustang presentation by Ford Motor Company employees
* High-speed on-track autocross competition
* Timed-lap competition
* Front-straight drag racing
* Paddock Car Show (Saturday)
* Group photo
* Custom-made trophies
* Bacardi Bus ride!
* More Mustang & Ford fun than you can imagine!

Several Ford employees will be in attendance this year:

Todd Soderquist – Chief Engineer, Global Fusion & Mondeo Programs at Ford Motor Company Todd has participated every year and is the founder of the event. Todd owns Mustang Boss 302 LS022 from both model years (2012 and 2013) that will be at MPH.

Rich Morris – Truck Product Planning Manager at Ford Motor Company. Rich will be back again this year with his 2014 Grabber Blue GT500 (that he took delivery of at the 2013 event!)

Bart Marowelli – New Model Launch Manager at Ford Motor Company. Bart is back for his 3rd year and is TENTATIVELY bringing a 2015 Mustang GT! He is planning on bringing one barring an unforeseen schedule change, but let’s hope it works out.  It would be very cool to see one on the racetrack.

There is STILL time to register for this event – but do NOT wait until the last minute as this event has sold out in previous years. Register online here.

See you at Hastings!

SAVE THE DATE: Track Guys’ “Final Roundup” at Texas World Speedway

Our 2015 event at Texas World Speedway is scheduled for March 28 & 29 and will most likely be our last performance driver education event at this historic track.

TWS_Save_the_date_collageFor those of you who may not know, 2015 will most likely be the last year that the track is in operation. So, here is your chance to help us make our “Final Roundup” at TWS one to remember. Please take just a couple minutes to fill out this short survey.

Note: this is not a commitment on your part to attend any or all of the days, but simply a way for us to determine the type and scope of event we want to conduct as our final “farewell” to TWS and it’s 2.9 miles of Texas-sized fun. We will open registration just as soon as possible, but for now, please SAVE THESE DATES on your calendar.

If you and your company are interested in being a sponsor for this event, please drop Jeff an email: jeff@trackguys.com

Thank you and we hope you can join us at Texas World Speedway in March 2015.

Track Guys Selected by the Mustang Club of America for Mustang 50th Birthday Celebration Event in Las Vegas, April 16-20, 2014

ACME_MUSTANG50YEARSTrack Guys Performance Driving Events is pleased to announce that we have been selected by the Mustang Club of America to conduct the on-track driving event that will be held April 16-20 in Las Vegas, Nevada as part of the official Mustang 50th Birthday Celebration!

As many of you may know, all three of the Track Guys’ management group (Dell Hughes, Jonathan Blevins and Jeff Lacina) drive Ford products on a daily basis, as well as own them as our “vehicle of choice” for our own on-track fun. Additionally, a vast majority of our Track Guys in-car instructors also drive Ford Mustangs both on the track and on the street.

Mustang Club of AmericaMCA_logo
Track Guys started working with the Mustang Club of America in 2012 and in 2013, the MCA sponsored our events by providing the Saturday lunch to all our driving participants at our Texas World Speedway and Sebring International Raceway events. A HUGE thanks to the MCA Driving Events Committee and the MCA Board of Directors for supporting our events and participants in 2013.

With two years of working together behind us, we were asked by the MCA’s Mustang 50th Birthday Celebration team to put together a plan for the Las Vegas driving event – what an honor this event will be! The Mustang 50th will be a once-in-a-lifetime event and Track Guys will be at the heart of it.

For this event, we will be conducting the on-track driving events and providing participants with some basic classroom and in-car education. Our goal is to make SURE that everyone who signs up to drive at the Las Vegas Mustang 50th Birthday Celebration will have a great, safe and memorable time enjoying their Mustang on the 2.4 mile “outside road course” in Vegas.

Because this is an official MCA event, you will need to register for this event on the Mustang 50th Birthday Celebration web site.

We want to thank the Mustang Club of America, the MCA Driving Events Committee and of course, the Mustang 50th Birthday Celebration Committee for selecting Track Guys to be an integral part of this don’t-you-dare-miss-it-event for Mustang owners, drivers and enthusiasts from around the world.

In-car Instructor’s Point-of-View

Our Track Guys instructors are a sick bunch of lap-happy performance driving junkies. How else can explain it? An instructor is a person who is willing to take time off from their work, spend a weekend away from their family and loved ones, drive 100 to 400 miles one way just to GET to one of our Track Guys events and then WILLINGLY get into the passenger seat of a high-performance car being driven by a complete rookie or novice driver!

Why do we do it?
Because we LOVE it, that’s why. We love sharing our experiences, knowledge and passion for performance driving with anyone who will listen – especially our students. And, if that student happens to be a person who has never driven their car on a race track, that’s even better.

As an in-car instructor, we have no steering wheel. No brake pedal. No throttle pedal. All we really have is our passion and desire to share our experience with the student driver sitting beside us. We want our students to succeed. We want our students to understand the basic principals of performance driving and the physics of driving their car at-speed on a race track.

Check out this “instructor point-of-view” video from the Mustang Club of Central Iowa event at Mid America Motorplex. The camera is attached to side Track Guys owner and lead instructor, Jeff Lacina’s helmet. Enjoy the ride!

Track Guys at the 39th Annual Mid-America Ford and Shelby Nationals

Numerous Track Guys instructors and students were in attendance at the 39th Annual Mid-America Ford and Shelby Nationals held in the Tulsa, Oklahoma area. Of course, being Track Guys, we spend a VAST majority of our time at the wonderful Hallett Motor Racing Circuit. On Wednesday, we instructed at the Ford Racing Driving School with Jonathan Blevins, Dell Hughes and Jeff Lacina riding numerous sessions with the students.

On Thursday, Friday and Saturday, we got to kick back and enjoy driving our own cars at Hallett. Of course, we were joined by even more Track Guys instructors, including Chad Lamb, Scott Hubbard, John George, Shelby Hadden-Tracy, Bart Roberts and others.

On Friday, MRT hosts a “Late Model Exhibition” event that fielded 19 late model Mustangs for a 12-lap “demonstration” of close-quarters performance driving on Hallett’s challenging 1.9-mile track. Go along for a ride with Track Guys owner / lead instructor, Jeff Lacina and his VMP Supercharged 2011 Mustang GT during this exhibition event. And yes, it was June 14th – Flag Day. That’s why Jeff is waving ol’ glory during the formation and cool-down laps.
