Track Guys Performance Driving Events owner and lead instructor, Jeff Lacina, has been added to the list of reasons why YOU should be bringing your Shelby, Boss 302, Mustang GT, Ford GT or any OTHER Ford-powered car to the Sept. 21-23 events at Motorsports Park Hastings, Hastings, Nebraska.
Lacina will be conducting a “Basics of Performance Driving” class for participants, especially first-time and novice drivers participating in the Team Shelby “Ponies on the Plains” and MPH’s own 2012 Ford & Mustang Roundup. He will also be one of the guest speakers at Saturday night’s dinner / autocross awards where he will be giving a presentation and answering questions about he and co-driver Evan Smith’s championship run in this year’s running of the infamous One Lap of America.
“This performance driving class will help drivers understand the fundamental principles of driving their Shelby’s and Mustangs on a track and in performance manner,” explains Lacina. “We’ll cover the physics of getting the car around the track as well as some of the basic rules and procedures covering track driving events. This will be a GREAT way for even a pure first-time driver to be introduced to this incredibly fun and rewarding sport of performance driving. We’ll also have a group of our lap-happy in-car instructors available for those who want some in-car coaching.”
Lacina adds that drivers of all skill levels are welcome to attend the class to pick up additional performance driving pointers. “That’s the best thing about this sport – you’re never done learning,” adds Lacina. “And it’s always fun to learn a new sport, especially once you understand the basics of what you can do in the car and out on the track. This event is the perfect venue for first-time and novice drivers to come out and give it a try. Hey, we all have to start somewhere, so why not this event?”
IMPORTANT:
These events will NOT be full Track Guys events and that Shelby, Mustang and Ford owners interested in attending MUST register via the Ponies on the Plains or Ford & Mustang Roundup websites. If you want to take advantage of the Track Guys classroom sessions and in-car instructors, please note that fact on your registrations forms.

Evan Smith, editor of Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords magazine awaits his chance to drive at Motorsports Park Hastings during the 2012 Tire Rack One Lap of America competition.
Since 2002, Lacina has been conducting Track Guys Performance Driving Schools at race tracks all over the U.S. and Canada. To date, he has driven and/or instructed on 75 different road courses and race tracks across North America. Lacina, along with co-driver, Evan Smith, raced their way to the SSGT2 Big Bore Class Championship in the 2012 Tire Rack One Lap of America in a 2013 Roush RS3 Mustang, including two on-track races and an autocross victory at Motorsports Park Hastings.
Lacina’s Track Guys classroom session will be conducted on both Friday morning and Friday afternoon, followed by at-speed on-track sessions for the student drivers. “This will be a great event for Mustang, Shelby and high-performance Ford owners,” adds Lacina. “And I KNOW there are a lot of Boss 302 Mustangs, Mustang GTs and Shelby GT500 drivers who want to be a part of this event and have a great weekend at the track a bunch of Ford friends.”
