Track Guys Owner / Lead Instructor to Compete in 2012 One Lap of America

Yes, it’s true. I FINALLY get to take part in one of the most grueling and unique automotive events in the world – the Tire Rack 2012 One Lap of America presented by Grassroots Motorsports. This year, Evan Smith and I have been awarded the wonderful privilege of driving the recently-released 2013 Roush RS3 Ford Mustang in this legendary automotive event.

My co-pilot for this trip will be Evan Smith, Editor of Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords magazine – yes, the same Evan Smith who attend and drove at our 2011 Sebring event (along with several of his staff writers) and covered it extensively in the magazine (see story below).

For those of you who don’t know, I’ve been a contributing editor to MM&FF since the early 1990s, writing about performance driving upgrades, schools and later, was asked to take the wheel of the monthly “Contact Patch” column. Now, the opportunity to represent the MM&FF as well as Roush Performance in their brand new 2013 Roush RS3 Mustang in the One Lap of America is a driving dream come true.

Personally and professionally, the One Lap of America has been on my automotive “bucket list” for years and I am looking forward to making the most of this opportunity. It’s a true honor to be selected by both MM&FF and Roush Performance for this event. I want to thank Evan Smith for asking me to be his co-driver and of course, the team at Roush Performance, especially Tim Wheeler, Vice President of Sales and Marketing and Jay Velthoven, Director of Creative Media & Vehicle Design.

Keep up with us…if you can!
During the event, Evan and I will be doing our best to keep everyone updated as to our progress and how well we are doing at each of the tracks. We’ll be using both Twitter and Facebook to post up info, pictures and video. There will also be official One Lap of America “check points” along the route and it would be GREAT to see some friendly faces showing up to support Evan and I on our grueling multi-day, multi-track adventure.
